Any recommendations? Will also need a contractor to finish the inside (drwyall, doors, electrical, plumbing). These two contractors will have to work with each other unless one can do the whole thing. Who's built a steel framed house on Hawaii? I've seen them for sale but would like to talk to someone to get some tips (or warnings). My wife fell in love with a big one despite my warnings the lava's gonna eat it [}
]and we should be more conservative.

I've built with steel but am no longer a contractor. There are things to be aware of if you build with steel. It will be a superior structure comapared to stick frame. Better value for the dollar.

There is a contracting company in Honokaa that does steel frame. On the road which goes up from the post office, a big white garage near the road in front of the contractor's house.

Rob, If you don't mind, could I keep your phone number on hand and give you a call around March? That's when we will be on-island and looking to talk with contractors.
Hotzcatz, Is that Honokaa area or the town itself? I wouldn't mind a little side trip there!
