Mayoral candidates watershed forum June 16
#1
There will be a very unique mayoral forum Monday June 16th at the county Aupuni Building, at the corner of Pauahi & Aupuni from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.

Every mayoral candidate is planning to attend...
planned to answer the mayoral candidates questions on watershed issues on the island...

If you want to learn more about the island watersheds & hear the questions the candidates ask, plan to attend.

There is even a bus stop right at the building.... and you can take the new 5:30pm bus from Pahoa, and you will get there 45 mins. before the forum starts...
There is a nicely scheduled bus that leaves Aupuni at 9:05pm... Link:

This was a really interesting forum.... There was a panel of 5 expert advisors that informed the candidates. It was very diferent to hear the candidates ask the questions, and to get an idea of what their concerns were.... unfortunately 4 of the candidates did not show, even though they had confirmed (at least one had responded that they were ill, and unable to make it)

There was a large crowd (by Hawaii County standards) there, and there was a little time for audience questions... very interesting all around.. and the most different forum I have been to.

There were to council members there that expressed an interest in having this type of forum for the council candidates too....

This is also a very good template for other groups that would like to look at how to present current & future County concerns to candidates.

Thanks for that Carey.
Yeah, that forum format does sound very, very interesting.
Was it video taped for the public TV network?

James, Yes it was video taped for community access TV, and one radio station also was planning on broadcasting it, KPUA radio 670 AM, not sure, but think it was a live radio broadcast

KPUA has put the forum on their webcast... it is on the "front page" (scroll down through the Late Breaking News) in 3 parts....
