How do they know that the forecast of summer will be better or worse then any other summer? Trade winds? I kinda wonder what it's based on.
Thanks if anyone knows... I'm @ about 60% catchment too. I only water a few plants. I'm wondering when it would be a good time to consider calling? I don't want to sound paranoid, but paying 100 bucks to come out and fill a catchment tank when it's raining is probably no fun too! / Kinda new to the whole catchment thingy.
>>people often complain about the amount of rain on this side
right, Les, especially tourists who want sunshine for their visit ... I don't complain about the rain unless it persists and never lets up. My idea of paradise is rain every night and if it wants to rain some of the days I'm fine with it.
Our soil is so porous, my plants depend on frequent rain and only the very well established stuff like my unkillable dracaena will carry on without water.
hey, if it didn't rain so much here it would be overrun like Kona. Let it rain!

Hey, more real rain-like precipitation today! I have this doppler radar widget on my Dashboard (you Mac folks may know what I'm talking about), it's a little quicker than going to a weather service site because it's always up and running. Anyhow, we don't really have any large weather system anywhere near us (haven't for a while), just some thin looking clouds coming from the east. Looks like a normal cycle. Hopefully, it's enough to stave off a serious drought.

One of our friends who is staying with us made this suggestions - stack old tires 2 high) and fill with compost/soil/mulch to use for planting. Can hide tires with rocks (of which we have plenty).... the tires will hold a bit of moisture in the edges but not collect mosquitos because they are filled with soil. We are going to test it out startign tomorrow - collecting some old tires today...

don-no bout this here drought. We been getting rain every night for the past 5-6 nights. "How much?" you say, Lots, my truck sets at a slight angle, front downward, with a plastic liner, and half of the bottom fills up about an inch every morning. So, we've gotten around a 1/2" every day. We were pretty dry when this thread started though with some dead grass spots.
Hawaiian Beaches, parks, shores, rec.
Of course with that said, it'll probably dry out again.
