Gnats and gnats?!

I recall years ago while vacationing in Puako in February we were swarmed with gnats...even found them in the refrigerator. We realize Hawaii is buggy. The past few evenings the lil buggas have swarmed...everything, everywhere...even eating dinner in the dark challenged who would finish first...gnats or us...I just gave in and thought of them as condiments. Any tricks for not having to share my indoor spaces with them? Mahalo.

The hanging fly sticky tape stuff...

Or if you have an indoor fan with lights above it... Hang about a 5 inch piece of strapping tape from each blade of the fan and let the gnats fly to the lights only to get stuck by one of the flying pieces of tape.

I think they coincide with all the waiwi going off right now. Good thing they're small and quite. If you put a lot of course ground pepper on your food, you don't even see them sitting there.

edit: They're gnatural!
