Biocontrol, if done properly, is a fantastic way of doing things, much better than spreading poisons everywhere IMHO.
Really, I can't see any alternative if you want to get rid of strawberry guava (yes, I've ripped out my fair share), fire ants or even coqui frogs - if they can ever find a suitable agent. It's like having an army of miniature robots that will do the work for you, for free.
I read somewhere else that in the last few decades there have been dozens of biocontrol initiatives in Hawaii, not all of them successful but none of them harmful.
