I have a chicken killing dog that needs a major attitude adjustment.
He needs to stop killing my chickens and I can't find a owner so I need to stop him in the act. If their is no rules where would be the best place to look for a good rifle?

The humane Society will loan animal traps to catch feral dogs and cats. They will then pick up the animal for $5. A cage trap and a little bait will often do the job.
I trapped a Tom that's been visiting and spraying about my house last night. Taking him to the H.S. this morning.

My dog used to kill chickens.
Tied a dead chicken to it's collar, then tied her to a tree down the hill a bit, just out of "smell" range. 3 days later, she was cured forever.

I see taking a chicken killing dog to the HS is just pasting a problem to the next guy.

I don't think so. The Humane Society is there for a purpose and a good purpose at that. You can, of course, do as you like. I have no problem donating to the Humane Society.

I agree with Rob, trap the dog with a HS trap but don’t bring the dog there, instead drop the dog off on the old government road. There are plenty of chickens to keep him busy there, trust me I know. In fact if the dog really likes to grind on chickens he may think he died and went to doggie heaven.
I ran a private duck club in northern Cal at one time and we had two collage trained resident duck dogs. One of the things that I had to do was exercise the dogs daily, [run them on the levies] where they would see a rabbit. This drove the dogs nuts because they wanted to catch it but new that is was prohibited. Sometimes they just got overwhelmed and couldn’t stand it and went after the rabbit and chased it down and would bring it back to me. I was instructed to slam the crap out of the two dogs with the dead rabbit and send them back to the kennel. This would work for a few months but the cure was not permanent the next time they saw a rabbit they would just look at me and shake because they wanted the chase. Eventually they would break down and go for it knowing what was in store for them when it was over, just the nature of the beast.
