Our house has a plum tree and being a stone fruit, I thought it had to lose it's leaves to fruit. I know that the cherry trees that they have in Hawaii have to be stripped of their leaves in November in order to bloom. Does anyone know what the deal is? Of course our tree is still covered in leaves, as we moved here in January but have owned the house since November, so we could not do anything about it till next fall.

the people at paradise plants seem to be quite knowledgable about the different fruit trees. they recently received a shipment of apples, plum, pomegranite (spelling), peaches, figs and others. we ending up buying an avocado and will go back for others is still available.
also, they have a small brochure that discusses summer vs. dormant pruning that might be of some help.
