Keyline Design & water management course 3/8
#1
Got this on an email from the Hilo Bay Watershed group:
"Next SUNDAY, MARCH 8th, John Schinnerer of Eco-living will
facilitate the workshop: INTRODUCTION TO KEYLINE DESIGN AND WATER
MANAGEMENT. Keyline Design is a holistic land use design system originally
developed in Australia in the mid 1950's, and used there and around the
world for decades. Keyline water management addresses how to minimize
erosion and runoff/pollution, maximize water retention and infiltration
locally (on the land where the water falls) for water self-sufficiency,
and minimize need for imported water, piped irrigation etc. Keyline design
can be applied to lands in the Hilo Bay watershed to improve water quality
in the watershed and the bay.

The workshop from 10:30am-3pm costs only $5 and will cover the Keyline
design scale of permanence, basic Keyline earthworks, and an overview of
rural and urban applications. The workshop will be held at a property
about 16 miles north of Hilo and will include plenty of hands-on exercises
and an optional service work party.

NOTE: Participants must preregister by calling 936-7040.
