Foodie web sites

Does any one know if there is a foodie/goumet web site for Hawaii? Most major cities have them. I know there will not be one specific to BI but I am thinking there has to be one for Oahu. I know about egullet but I am not such a fan of it. I love AtlantaCuisine.com and was hoping to find something similar.

The value of eGullet varies widely among different locations, depending on the amount of activity in the area in which you are interested. (The Pennsylvania site is excellent if you are in Philadelphia, and almost useless if you are in Pittsburgh.) The Hawaii site is very limited, and most of what is there refers primarily to Honolulu.

I agree with John Dirgo; Big Island Grinds is the best site for Big Island food. Also worth noting is John Rabi's restaurant reviews on Konaweb at http://www.konaforum.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=b70c758670cd8e26bb259dd17509bedc.

Thanks for the sites. Bigisland grinds was interesting. I am really looking more for a forum regarding cooking, info on locating ingredients etc. This is going to sound bad--- I am really not a huge fan of "Hawaiian" food. By that I mean plate lunch etc. I am not a huge fan of most Asian cuisine either, small doses only. I was looking for a site with a forum of hobbiest (is that a word?) that enjoy cooking. Something where we can figure out how to make local ingredients work for what we need, share ideas and shopping spots, share mail order sites that will ship to Hawaii. Like if I found a real Brie or a specialty aged cheddar in Hilo I could post it so other foodies know to grab it up. I don't mind it being Oahu based. Hmmm, if there isn't one it might be something for me to work on.

Try Hawaii Island Journal online. Sonia Martinez write a resturant review every 3rd issue... She also had a cooking school in Honomu that was written up in Island Life in 2000 (the Inn has now burned down but Sonia continues her activities). She is the moderator for Hawaii freecycle and her ID is foodiesleuth.

Its not a foodie site, but you might be interested.
This is a paragraph from today's online Tribune Herald.
"At the 3rd Annual Hawaii's World Heritage Festival on Aug. 19, the public can discover fascinating facts about the many cultures that have made their way to the islands over the centuries to create "Hawaii's tapestry of people." The free festival will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in downtown Hilo's Kalakaua Park."

I've heard there are some good Yahoo groups on food in Hawaii. I haven't found them yet, though.
