The Palace
#1
Palace Theater. What a fun place to go to for an evening. It is so nice to have such a wonderful vintage theater such as this in our community! Cathie and I went to see a local made movie called “BULLET and the MEDALLION OF LUCINDA”. What a real hokey fun movie. It was the premier last night and all the money went to the Palace Theater. The cast showed up in a big black Hummer and they even had a search light going! It seemed that everyone in the audience knew the main actors or someone in the cast and they hooted and cheered like an old time Saturday matinee serial. It was fun to see all the familiar sights from around the Hilo in the background. Like I said the show was hokey and a real tongue in cheek 90-minute movie. They even showed a series of “blooper” at the end. I think the best actor in the show was a part played by DC, who has the morning show on B97 FM. He did a real bang up job and was more convincing than the rest of the cast!

I think we’ll go back tonight and watch “A Prairie Home Companion” before it leaves the area. Is more fun to see comedies at a theater rather than at home on DVD, as the interaction of the audience is half the fun!

Another good theater in Hilo is:

Wallace - Kress Cinemas (Near Cafe Pesto)
174 Kamehameha Ave #1, Hilo, HI 96720 (808)9356777

Play slightly older movies for $1.00

Good cheap fun.

Royall - as Tony and I are avid fans of Garrison Keillor, we went last week to see A Pairie Home Companion...we loved it. The actors were a hoot - loved Kevin Kline and Lilly Tomlin...real cute show.

We joined a large group at the Palace Theater on Thursday night to see "Sir! No Sir!", a documentary about the anti-war movement in the military during the Vietnam war. Bob Watada spoke before the movie which was attended by people who supported his son, Lt. Ehren Watada, who is the highest ranking soldier to refuse to serve in Iraq. A group of us made fans with the "Refuse Illegal War" graphic for attendees to use in the Theater. If you've been to the Palace on a crowded night or during a warm matinee, you'll know how useful fans are there!

You're right Carrie, A Prairie Home Companion was a real hoot! I just loved the song the cowboys sang at the end with all the jokes! It was warm in the theater tonight. I thought is was warmer than last night but Cathie didn't agree. I guess I'm coming down with her hot flashes then! I'm glad we bought a fan Friday night. I about wore it out!

Yes, I am here. wife to join me soon. Having fun finding all the interesting things to do in the area. Enjoying the "Palace". Did a guest shot on the "50 cent critic" TV show on the access channel the other day. Updated my forum "signature".

Building owner-built home in Nanawale. Wife will join me when we get it to the "dry" stage.
