Vacuum cleaner repair
#1
I've already been told that this is a lost cause, but does anyone know of a place on the Big Island that does vacuum cleaner repairs? The machine is a Hoover Pet Cyclone model with a 12 amp motor. Thanks for any leads.

Aloha Jerry: Try Rang's 2103a Kinoole 959-6656. Suggest you call first if your vac has been labeled a "lost cause" already. Randy can tell you whether it is worth bringing it in.
Good luck!

Been to Rang's a few times. There right on Kinoole. If they can fix it, they'll fix it. If it's not worth fixing they'll tell you too. Been satisfied with their work. Fix sewing machines too.

If you are handy Google "Hoover UH70085 parts", you may be able to bring it back to life on your own.

Vacuums are such simple appliances not a whole lot to go wrong, but cost of labor plus parts markup might mean its cheaper to buy a new one.

Cleaning the switch or checking the brushes on the motor good place to start. Or just looking for loose wire or something jamming things.

Kind of like DVD players, so inexpensive that its cheaper to replace than to have anyone even look at it. Hopefully some appliance repairperson will give free quote.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. We will give Rang's a call since we are highly lacking in mechanical skills ourselves and would probably mess up freestate's good DIY advice.
