When we looked into building on Maui with catchment, the county there required a hydrant-style outlet on a concrete base that is piped into the tank for fire fighting purposes. Had to do some research just to find where to order such a thing. With the power of the FD's pumpers, I would be very wary of poking a high suction hose into our vinyl lined tank!

Sorry to off track here but MARKP do I understand your post correctly that you used a 40 foot container as your swimming pool? What I am thinking as the base for the pool and is in ground with lining? hmmmm really would love to hear about this one.
