A Hawaiian son dies at the Channel Islands

This story touched me. It draws a line between my home town, Ventura Calif., and the Channel Islands offshore - a place I am very familiar with.

Tommy Pruner, originally from Aiea, was a paddler and outdoorsman whose life was cut short on a hike with friends on Santa Cruz Island.

My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
