Big Island police set up ICE hotlines

By 67AM KPUA News

Big Island police encourage the public to continue helping to battle the crystal methamphetamine problem on the Big Island by providing tips to the Police Department's ICE Hotlines.

The West Hawaii hotline number -- for the districts of North Kohala, South Kohala, Kona and Ka'u -- is 329-0-ICE (329-0423). The East Hawaii hotline number -- for Hamakua, North Hilo, South Hilo and Puna -- is 934-VICE (934-8423).

Major John Dawrs from the West Hawaii Operations Bureau said the Police Department is committed to working in partnership with the community to make this island a better place to live. He asks that citizens call the hotlines when they observe anything they suspect might be related to the manufacture or distribution of ice.

"This information is valuable," Dawrs said. "We follow up on every tip."

Thank you. Meth is not a natural drug. It is manmade, and is the most addictive substance every created. Instead of enhancing life, it destroys the lives of those who are addicted to it, and that of their families as well.

It is in its own category. Mosquitos, coquis, road rage and meth in the form of ice --all non-native and totally unaloha.
