Shrubs and trees close to houses (?)
#1
Why do people plant shrubs and/or trees right up next to their house? I see this a lot and it got me to wondering. Seems like with all the humidity and rain, plants should be located far from the house to prevent mold and promote air circulation. Might also help keep coqui frogs and bugs away from the house as well.
So, why do people plant so close?

As to why, perhaps for a 'look'.

Our house has a couple of shrubs in the front that were planted decades ago. We have been working on getting them out for a couple of years (amazing what well established roots do!)

Our termite inspectors mention the shrubs in their report every year, so I also think that plants near the house may encourage these most unwelcome guests!

Anyone wants some Finger palms or Chenille plant cuttings?
