The next phase of Saddle Road is almost ready to be advertised (hopefully by mid May). This solicitation entails completing most, if not all, the earthwork between m.m 41.5 and m.m 14 on Mamalahoa Highway.

Saddle Rd. down to only one portion not paved now. YEA!
But on sunday there were 3 Roberts and Paradiose full size buses using the Saddle. Could really slow down now.

The CFLHD is apparently following the previous construction schedule for the m.m 28 to m.m 41.5 segment. This phase was broken down into four bid solicitations (paving, and earthwork). It also appears the last Hilo segment between m.m 5.3 and m.m 11 isn't bid solicitation ready yet.

They can't finish that last Kona side segment soon enough! I drive the Saddle every month or two, and the section under construction, even with its gravel segment, is less bothersome (and dangerous) than the remaining narrow, winding, bit with its one-lane "chicken run" bridges.
