I am coming over on a Friday in February (9th) and staying until the following Tuesday. Have decided to bring my older sister with me. She has never been to Hawaii. We will only have Saturday, Sunday and part of Monday there.
I would really like it if I could take her to a place to see a hula. Kalani has hula instruction on Tuesdays (we leave that day). Is there any hula on the wetside on weekends, or will I need to consider driving over to the Sheraton or some such on the westside?

Glen, Uncle Billy's has a nightly Hula show:

It is nice to walk their grounds, on a beautiful clear day, the view of the bay & Mauna Kea are breath taking.
The festivals in Hilo are definately the best Hula - You are missing George Na'ope Kane Hule Festival March 1-3, and of course Merrie Monarch April 7-14

and the Aloha Festivals from late August through late September, with the mass hula at the Queen Lili'uokalani Festival with the aerial flower drop being an experience that must been seen

Also the Hula Kahiko up on the hula platform overlooking Kilauea crater is a very intimate and spirit filled performance

(go to performance, then to Hula Kahiko.)I do know there there are a couple of haluas that practice at the Old Gym at the University, just don't have a clus what the schedules are, but it is fun to watch them practice.
Aloha, Carey
