KGMB and over the air reception
#1
Hello everyone

This is aimed at those that are still in the stone age, like me, and receive their TV entertainment over the air. I'm happy with that, most cable TV shows don't interest me.

Anyway, I've not been well for a couple of months now and ended up going off island for the last three weeks just to see if that would help. When I returned I could no longer get the over-the-air channel 45 which is KGMB. Just wondered if anyone knows what's going on.

My TV acted very strangely when I returned from overseas so wouldn't be surprised if some power outage or surge screwed me up while I was gone, but if anyone could let me know if channel 45 is working or not I'd be very appreciative. At least I'll know if it's me or the station.

Thanks,

Tom

Aloha Tom:

I was trying to search how to contact KGMB, but their site was busy. Then I stumbled upon your posting. Not sure if I will ever be able to find this site again.

We too only have an antennae. Several months ago, might have even been last year, our TV went fruit cake with the CBS station. It disappeared from channel 45. Then Kfive appeared on 45. It was still showing on channel 9, it's original channel. After awhile, CBS showed up on channel 9. So the stations switched, but since 9 is not a high definition channel, we get lousy reception.

So we bared with it. Sometimes the reception does clear up and we are able to watch it without being too annoyed. Now channel 9 is acting weird again. Two Sundays ago, June 12, the picture was frozen with Dean Martin's picture. The audio is fine, with what is currently on the station. This is why I was trying to contact KGMB to see if they were aware of this problem.

Anyway, I am just rambling. Just thought I would let you know that your TV is not the only one that went over into the twilight zone.

Just a quick retraction. I mixed up channel 9 and 45. CBS was broadcast on channel 9 and changed to 45, which is not high definition. The KGMB picture is frozen.

Thanks, Laurie. Yes, 9 and 45 are sister channels, but most of the CBS stuff is on 45 (which is analogue). Wondering if the thunderstorms while I was away did something to the transmitter, but I've no idea who to contact and ask about it, and can't find anything on their website. As you mention, the channel 45 picture is frozen. I get sound from time to time so something is being broadcast. It was working fine at the end of May.
