Political wrangling in Washing DC over the FAA budget has left the FAA unable to collect Federal taxes on airline fees. This is affecting Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines.
The advice is to book now to save up to $44 per flight...

Most airlines have increased their fare the 7+%, so there is no great savings.
This was covered in the Sunday Trib-Herald & I was watching fares on Friday/Saturday, when the tax was lifted & the fares of United & AA did go up....but there is so much daily fluctuation of fares, I cannot say that the fares did go up because of the airlines "grabbing" the tax, or if it was the normal weekend fare rise....

Monday update:
"As of midday Monday, nearly all large U.S. airlines had raised prices, but fare watchers said Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and Spirit Airlines had not."

Thanks Rob, I got off the fence and booked our Tickets. Just like you said there were no taxes added to the base fare. Happy days!
