Brd of Ed community meetings 4/25 & 26
#1
The Board of Education, which has taken an adversarial stance (with attorney Brian DeLima leading the charge) against public school teachers recently, is holding community meetings 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, 4/25, at Mt. View School cafeteria and same time Thursday, 4/26, at Hilo Intermediate School cafeteria.

Parents and teachers are going to be majorly affected by legislation our state is currently considering and the Legislature is very close to passing. And legislators have complained they have had no testimony from parents and teachers -- most of whom don't follow the ins and outs of legislative sessions that end the first week in May.

One of the issues that will mean even more children will NOT be attending school regularly is the Legislature's move to cut $22 million from the school bus budget. Their aim is Oahu but the bus situation on the Big Island is a huge problem.

Please, people with youngsters in school, turn out to testify before the BOE ... Puna students are going to be adversely affected by this budget cut and we need to let the Board know. Mahalo a nui loa.
