Concrete Ring for Catchment (Question Re: How To)
#1
Hello friends,

Would anyone be kind enough to give me some tips on how to form/pour a concrete ring foundation for a new catchment tank? Waterworks in Hilo charges around $1,800 for this ring alone (labor & materials). Seeing as this is unaffordable (on top of $4-$5k for a new tank, pump, pressure tank, etc.), any specific advise on how I could make my own ring would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

p.s. For the curious, photos can be viewed here: http://waterworkshawaii.com/water-supply...-services/

There is an older thread about rings that I remember. For what it's worth I have a 10,000 gal. tank, 5 years in place now, doing fine without a ring. I'm thinking that a ring might might be nice and possibly necessary depending on where it's going. Mine is on riped and rolled lava. I keep vegetation and soil away from the base and it looks just like it did 5 years ago.

Thanks Jay, that was very helpful. You know, I had searched under a number of terms and yet didn't come across that thread initially. Upon expanding my search I found what you were speaking about. The info and photos there were very helpful.

Hi Joe, thanks for the offer. I've already hired out the work otherwise I may have taken you up on that.

Thanks again, Ryan
