Hi,
I'm looking for a couple lengths of light gray composite decking to replace two scratched pieces. They're the hollow type that are smooth on one side and rough on the other but without the fake grain. If anyone has some extras you'd like to sell, let me know.

Hi,
We are going to build a covered lanai in lower Puna and I was wondering which brand of composite decking people have had the best of luck with? It seems like Fiberon, Timbertech and Trex are available here. I heard about warping,but this will be in the shade. Has anyone used the aluminum decking?

Rourk, I don't know anything about Fiberon or Timertech, but I had a Trex deck built in Washington State that is flaking apart. A similar product/formulation, Veranda, sold at Home Depot, is flaking and splitting as well. I wanted a deck I would never have to replace...

Trex had a problem with what you described and will warrant their material. Friends deck started flaking apart and got all the Trex replaced, and a bit extra at no cost to him whatsoever. Check their website, they might have a "recall" date parameter.

Go for the types that are 100% plastic and don't use any wood. Older standard Trex molds terribly and cannot be properly cleaned. Friends in Black Sands have it and power washing and bleach help but not completely.
