Power Trip

Rob, I'm glad you don't take these insults personally. The existence of this forum is much appreciated by many, many people.
Don't worry about the occasional dunce - but then you don't seem to worry at all. Best moderated forum I've ever been a member of.

True moderation of a forum needs to be immediate. Waiting a day or two to moderate a post or thread dos not cut it. Cutting one person slack vs not others does not lead to good discussions.

(I moderate several forums and inconsistency does not lend itself to a good forum)

Just a point of misunderstanding, but what if the moderator (in this case I can only assume you are talking about Rob) has a life outside of the forum and doesn't check up on it constantly, but rather hopes that those using the forum are adult enough that moderation only needs to be done on rare ocassions? Why would one come to a forum, join in, and then tell the moderator/owner how to run his forum? Just sayin' . . .or just askin' . . .'cause I don't understand.

I guess there is some mild humor in the fact that one thinks I am too controlling and another thinks I don't exercise enough control.

Oh well....
Assume the best and ask questions.

There are too many people anymore to please, I guess. You are doing a good job, Rob. I'd like to think that jackson is right on the money and this is not the most important function in Rob's world.

When I feel the anger from a thread I just avoid it usually. I don't want that feeling transferred to me. Maybe some people need to feel bad...just sayin' [Wink][Wink]

Carrie...you're right. Some people just aren't happy unless they're not happy...or, in other cases, they're not happy unless you're not happy. Sometimes avoidance of negativity is the best strategy.

excellent advice. I try to stay away from the anger producing threads and not bite. hard to do, but there is a learning curve to this punaweb thing and I am at least on the learning curve ride.
Merry Christmas to you Rob and to everyone on punaweb.
This is a great community and a great place to call home.
I hope to meet some of you in person at the next scuba Sunday.

I've said this a few times and still think that this is the most balanced forum I've been on. I've yet seen anything abusive or excessive power trips of moderation. I guess if I got banned or something then I might have a different story. But I'd like to think I am not too whacked out to maintain a membership. I have donated a few times but. I think it's worth it. I think money going towards the power bill to keep the computer running 24hours is money well spent. I also think that this forum is run the way I would run it if I ran punaweb ... Hopefully punaweb will be around for a long time. Smile Merry Xmas to all! I hope one day I'll meet everyone here. Time will tell!
