Joking aside, a week or so ago 30th in HPP was graded way back on both sides, almost to the fence lines, and survey stakes appeared on both sides of the road. Most of the power poles are inside those stakes. I called the hui to find out what was going on and was told that they were paving 30th from Kaloli to Makuu so it could be used as an alternate route when the highway was congested or blocked. Oh really? Never mentioned that at the homeowners meeting. In fact at the meeting it was 31st that was to be paved, not 30th, and only between Makuu and Paradise. Apparently the inmates are in charge of the asylum in HPP.

cool, we can make 31'st ave oneway for inbound traffic and 30'th oneway for outbound traffic! Smile

But what about an alternative rout from HPP to 11? or Hawaiian Beaches to HPP? Hmmm... Ah well. Seems like poor planning tho, lucky you guys don't live in Waianae it's kinda setup like Puna only a two lane highway (each way)and if it get accident or something blocking a lane the whole thing is backed up for miles and no alternative route. People here are proposing a class action law suite for the state for not providing an alternate route since it was promised years ago and nothing happens for the local people. Thats one way to get something done Sue the bastards.

31 between M-P and 30 between M-K were always in the Phase IV contract. The reason to Clear and Grub behind the poles is to reduce the growth onto the new road and not for paving. (part of the contract)
The reason for paving these roads is not to make an alternitive road for 130 but because of the high cost of maintenance.
The next time you call the office ask for the General Manager.
