fishing charters?
#1
Visiting friends would love to go out fishing. Any ideas for a boat out of Hilo? Also, I'm looking for some fresh (whole fish) ahi. Thanks!

FYI...Almost all the fishing charters go out from Kona.

Aloha Julie,

The best place to buy fresh ahi in Hilo is at Suisan: http://suisan.com/

85 Lihiwai Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720

The best sportfishing charters on island are in Kona at Honokohau Harbor.
A list with links to available sportfishing charters is here:

http://www.honokohauharbor.com/

Bite Me Sportfishing is the largest operation with 5 vessels and share charters start at $99 per person. They also have a fresh fish store and grille at Honokohau Harbor.

Lava Ocean Tours, Inc has fishing charters on the east side. They launch from Hilo and Pohoiki. I don't have any personal experience with these guys, but was looking into it as I am also looking to go into the charter business when I get there. http://www.seelava.com/big-island-boat-t...ishing-fun

It's not a huge boat, so I don't think they offer party/share...but they might. Anyone else know about them?

Depending on your sealegs, you might want to go to the Kona side as it is much calmer. I am sure you have to pick your days on the east side due to high swell and wind conditions.

Thanks all. I will try lava ocean and send the boys by themselves. My sea legs aren't that great!
