Absolutely right Niele, that $5 contribution is nothing more that to demonstrate that there are people who favor a more transparent system of funding candidate campaigns. I have total respect for those candidates, like Ilagan and Wetherferd, who are willing to go the extra mile and get 200 of their registered constituents to show support for the Clean Elections program, no easy task in Puna! Seriously, who carries a check book around these days...I honestly think the Elections Commission should be satisfied with signatures of registered voters. The money is collected from tax payers, that little bit that is collected from the signature process is a drop in the bucket!

Thank you, 'niele' and 'keep it pono', for your understanding and support of the pilot public campaign funding process that Greggor and I (and 8 more candidates around the island) are participating in.
Is it an ideal way to campaign? Of course not.
It is a very real and positive big step in the right direction.
If you are in District 4 and are able to help me with this, please email me through PunaWeb or got to my website and click the 'contact' tab for phone and email address:

The only elected official at the Pahoa geothermal meeting Saturday was Fay Hanohano; Kudo's to Fay.
Candidates Ike Payne, Greggor Ilagan and James Weatherford, 4th district found time to attend as did Zendo Kern, 5th district . Fred as usual was MII ( missing in inaction) probably had a birthday or something more important to attend. Russell Ruderman was also there. If I forgot any candidates please add them to the honor roll of people who actually care.
