Pets on Hwy 130

I swear today I had to drive into Hilo and back and there were so many pets that were dead in the roadway...it was like a morgue. One might say it was feral cats...well most of these were dogs and they were good sized, healthy looking. It's so heartbreaking to see the numbers of animals that are taken out on the highway.

A few months ago, I was driving back from Hilo on a really rainy morning, near zero visibility On 130 between MM 17 and 18 where those dogs are always on the road. One of them stepped out in front of me. I almost skidded trying to stop.

Not only are people's pets in danger, so are motorists.

Prolly dogs unleashed in back of pickups, standing on tool box that does not have any carpet on it for them.

Did anyone see the 'herd' of goats on 11 tonight ? Just before town, inbound side.

Just doing their thing , moving the grass and one step away from .........

pog - regarding the goats, they've been there for a year or two. I usually turn off 11 before getting to that spot but occasionally drive on and they always surprise me.

Yep yep Tom ... Still cracks me up seeing them right 'there'. Cars wizzing by.

Last year was 8 pigs in my yard right by airport road ... I believe they live/roam in the bushes between 11 and the Truck Training Lot on Airport road down to Kalanianaole by Vernas.

We've been watching the goats for a long time...years...so far I haven't heard of any mishaps. We saw them on Saturday morning...like there was no such thing as a highway or traffic. Some little guys too.
