Volcano evacuees post here
#1
I have been in touch with the Volcano Community Association.

This topic is for those in the Volcano area looking for alternatives in evacuating their homes. There is a separate topic titled "Can you help a Volcano resident?" which people are telling what they have available. You can email Punaweb members directly through this web site by clicking on their username.

You must be registered and logged in to post. Be as specific as possible about your situation and needs.

Please post here only if you are looking for a situation that might meet your needs or to respond to such a situation. If you want to discuss other aspects of the event please start a new topic.

Greetings, Oh generous-hearts!

Thank you for offering to help.

Our situation is that “we” are two people and two dogs.

My Mom's 82 and in a wheelchair but otherwise very healthy and super-bright. Mom needs somewhere that can accommodate a wheelchair (low rise into front door, wide doorways, large bathroom, indoor bed, li'dat.)

I’m only 50 but have neck and back injuries (and a pulmonary illness) – still, I can sleep on floor in same room (to help Mom at night if necessary), on a futon I have with me. My lung illness is the main reason we may need to evacuate. We have our own gas masks and plenty of filters, though, if wind changes.

We have 2 large, nice dogs; our cats will stay at home. At least one dog needs to stay inside (45 lb lab – “needy” - requires human companionship)

We can bring food, but not much water (not much room in car with 2 dogs and wheelchair).

What about U? Do we sound like your kind of people/critters?

If so, please call 985-7014 and email: temp@hawaii.rr.com
