Can I find a good Flashlight?
#1
Tired of buying junk flashlights

Anyone know where I can buy something like this in Hilo?

J Hara would be the best bet, but people don't actually like good quality kit like what you linked to, so the Amazon really is the best. Might consider a surefire or 4sevens as well.

Sports authority looks promising. Didn't think of looking for a light in there yet. Thx KW

Best and most versatile flashlight I have ever owned is Proton Pro made by photon light people. Lifetime guarantee on all parts- one button controls all functions including dimmer, strobe, SOS, and a very handy red led beam for seeing in the dark without ruining your night vision. Runs on a single AA battery and fits well in pocket or belt. But you would probably have to purchase on line, see here:

If you want local products, check out S. Tokunaga store in downtown Hilo. They have a bunch of quality options.

I am kinda a flashlight junky I have now 6 LED flashlights. From pocket lights to the above. It pretty much boils down to quality of the bulb. Most people "Think Flashlight" they aren't concerned about the quality of the LED. While no doubt, Home Depot / Target have some nice flashlights they are not like these. If your expecting this quality form those stores your will be disappointed.

Microprocessor-controlled, CREE light emitting diode (LED), waterproof to IPX-8 Standard

Sorry your not going to find a dealer in hilo. None of the big box stores even carry lights with CREE leds that I am aware of.

What I was looking for in a light is BRIGHT. 615 Lumen with a Cree XM-L LED... I also wanted something I wouldn't need to change batteries all the time and D-Cells are the biggest standard cell's you can find. And I was looking for something with a little heft to it since I was walking around at night (should I need it).

Anyway... Sadly, the only options you have for a quality light that puts out 10X the amount of light of normal flashlights your gonna have to order online.
