Another shark at Pohoiki
#1
Yesterday, in the middle of the day, the surfers at Second Bay surf spot at Pohoiki saw an estimated 10 foot tiger shark. They all went straight in, over the rocks and walked back to the parking lot. It makes me a little leery about going right back out.

OMG. Sure hope someone called it in so they can put up those shark sighting signs, or something.

We're all going to die! Lets bomb the oceans and rid ourselves of the terrorist threat.

It was his turf way before man got there. If you can't respect the sea life than you shouldn't be in the water. Sharks are everywhere. Might as well keep the shark sign up 24/7 with swim at your own risk on the bottom.

good read that may help explain why we are seeing more of them

" The migration period coincides with the birthing season of tiger shark pups, and a higher rate of shark attacks in waters around the main Hawaiian islands."

Thanks for that, lol
kinda reminds me about the coqui threat , but they can't eat that much, so no worries.

Thanks Bullwinkle. My wife says this corresponds to what she experienced over years of diving. The slightly controversial $180,000 study of tigers off Maui will, I hope, contribute more knowledge about these big guys. I surf Pohoiki about 3 times a week and was there when Ulu Boy Napeahi was bitten. I will continue surfing there. My original post was informational. However it got a couple Augie wannabees replying.

I was out there today. I didn't see any signs out, although I was wondering why there weren't any surfers out in the water, and thought this may be the case.

I was out there yesterday with the family and spoke to another family and mentioned the shark and I guess there is one that lives in 2 bay and is sighted pretty often. Sharks happen they say....
