Shutdown and Puna
#1
I have read many articles about the common person helping others caught in the drama. I know at least two people who have been furloughed right here in our area.

In the positive spirit - if you know of businesses or charities that are helping here in Puna... I think we should post here.

There was an article in the HTH reposted from CO Springs gazette about what businesses and common people are doing elsewhere: http://hawaiitribune-herald.com/sections...umans.html

FYI:

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/23707...udget-deal

BREAKING: The Senate has reached a bipartisan agreement to end the shutdown of the U.S. Government.

Democratic leader Harry Reid says Senate leaders have reached a bipartisan deal to avoid default and end the government shutdown, now in its 16th day.

Reid made the announcement at the start of the Senate session on Wednesday.

The deal would reopen the government through Jan. 15 and increase the nation's borrowing authority through Feb. 7.

Reid thanked Republican leader Mitch McConnell for working out an agreement.

Half-positive is the best I can do: since the volcano is "shut down" (ha, ha), the only way to see it is by taking a helicopter flight directly over my house... but at least (some) tour companies are making money, right?

It's not the Senate that has been clogging things up, it's the House of Representatives....Tea Party

"The GOP House leadership will not block a Senate agreement aimed at ending the shutdown and raising the debt ceiling, House Speaker John Boehner says in a statement."

Restart the volcano!
