I'm curious where I can buy lava rock for building purposes, both natural and shaped? For example, after seeing the nice lava rock pavers used around Kalakaua Park in Hilo it occurred to me it would be a great look for a home, if the price isn't too steep for shaped rock like that.

1st I saw Big Island I went wow rocks to the right of you rocks to the left and ahead we have more rocks.
Now that I been here for a while I realize rocks are everywhere except where you want it to be.

unless theyre selling it dirt cheap..
id say try first putting an ad in craigslist that youre looking for lava rock and willing to haul, or even trade for it.
im sure theres plenty of dozer or rockwall building companies around here that supply them too.
where are you located, no loose rock around?

Glovers sells rocks or even huge boulders by the pound. They have a special pile of stones for walls that you can pick through also.

Thanks everyone, I'll be on island in a couple of months and am looking at property in Hawaiian Acres. Definitely some rock around but not sure I want to go through the hassle and expense of digging it up and cleaning it if there's an affordable and hassle free alternative.
