Puna 1961
#1
Was going through some old family photos and came across these of my first visit to Puna.

The first photo is of Hawaiian Acres when it was new. The view is looking towards what is now HPP. Nice ocean views, The roads even looked better than they do now! The man standing there is Walter Suen, one of the early Honolulu realtors that did very well in HA.
The next shot is of me and my mom collecting black sand at Kalapana which was pretty much standard tourist policy back then.

Wow, very cool. I really wish I could have seen the black sand beach in Kalapana...
