Recycling by Corps on the Big Island
#1
To our prospective candidates for any of the offices -

What will you do about the trash / recycle / repurpose issues on the Big Island in regards to corporations like Walmart, Target, construction companies doing HMSA project etc?

Can we show the corporations how to get to almost zero trash?

We got rid of plastic bags but what is a more productive (i.e financial incentive) to help corps recycle?

On another thread recently, some one was talking about Walmart crushing bikes so they cant be used? Why cant these same bikes go to a non-profit for donations.

So candidates can you think outside the box? Can you work with corps doing business on the Big island so it doesnt have to be legislation to make corps do the right thing? Cuz all they do is fight it legally and cost consumers money. Can you talk them into doing the right thing so they actually look good?

I am guessing, as far as the bike crushing, that it is a liability issue should the bikes be allowed into the public and someone's kid gets hurt on one.

As for the general subject matter, most corporate regulations are under federal jurisdiction (EPA, DoAg, DoCommerce, etc.).
