Hurricane preparedness

Nothing. Thats right. Avoid helco from the get go, go off-grid with photovoltaics and get a decent UV water filter and a RO filter and you're set. Oh yeah buy your property above the tsunami zones.

Initially thought question was if you have to bail. Genset, radio, well stocked pantry as Mimosa stated if you can hunker down. Hunt--it' s basically what I take when I go camping, but without the strong box. Imagine that there will be no help other than what you provide for yourself, or a neighbor who wishes to make it a team effort. Been there at least twice, done that.
As long as there is media, you have Red Cross and the "Gummit","here to help". Been able to wander for about 3 weeks on what limited supplies I take. Oh yeah, keep at least half tank gas in car during season, as you usually have at least 5 more gallons fuel in jeep cans for the garden equips., premix won't hurt the truck in an emergency.
Chainsaw is good when the cleanup starts, but also handy to take with, if your escape route has trees alongside that may block you if down. Last thought, those that have a standard water heater have an extra 50 to 75 gallons of drinking water if they took the time to put shut off valves on both sides of the water piping, secure it with heavy plumbers tape at the 1/3 marks, and shut it down when the siren blows.(don't forget to blow out the pilot light!!)

Are you a human being, or a human doing?
