OnoOno,
I'm sorry you don't understand why people would live here. The fact is; People have lived here on the Volcano for a thousand years. They enjoy tropical weather, ocean access, year round growing season, natural spectacles such as flowing lava, and flora/fauna found nowhere else on the planet.
We are safe here; Compare the Puna Volcano damage/death/injury statistics with the Hurricane/Earthquake/flood/Tornado/drought statistics elsewhere.....Plus, none of those other disasters are pleasant to watch.
I see where CSGray is coming from; You need to experience Puna to be able to make a credible judgement.
By the way; Would you tell the Entertainment industry people in your area that their product sucks.

I understand all that. I have been there. But now is NOT a good time. It's an active Volcano, and "perhaps", during a period of continues activity, that decision might be rethought.

@ OnoOno The hole you are digging for yourself is getting deeper and deeper. My suggestion is to stop digging and lay your shovel down.

It is evident that the volcanic activity is NOT finished, and the idea that moving onto or continuing to live on a hyperactive volcano might bear re-thinking.
So you'll be leaving us then? Or not moving here as planned?
It's clear that the growth is NOT finished, and the idea of moving into or continuing to live anywhere with crowded freeways might bear re-thinking....

Your attempts at intimidation will not succeed. Reasonable suggestions were made in good spirit. The Castle-Dwellers reject not only the advice, but its originating zip code. Now, Madam Pele will have her say. Ciao!!!!

Yes, by not watching the overwhelming majority of it. There are no writers any more - No plots, no story-telling just babble.

Once it's all blocked off, there will be a lot of opportunities for South Puna Anomaly Zone (SPAZ). It will be part sci-fi, part zombie, part lord of the rings and maybe even become a Hawaiian sanctuary. The weird aspect is PGV is an independent indigenous power source and could provide base load 24/7 power to all south Puna. Everything would be powered up, just you can't drive out of the south directly to north, only the long detour out Craters road or by water.
The gift of Pele is the roundabout, new park, new shopping center, and the Pahoa 300 are gone. Of course, for the north, the high school, swimming pool, community center, old town are going to be the long way around to get to them. It's going to turn into a museum for Pele's amusement.

Add in a touch of gypsy, too. The Romney are a mobile people and they'd fit right into this sort of scenario, wouldn't they? You'd need more colorful wagons and some Gypsy Vanner horses to pull them, though.
