Spooky Stories; Dragons of Hilo! Today's show features Leilehua Yuen bringing Halloween chills with traditional spooky stories of Hawai'i. Hear about Kuna and Pana'ewa, the giant mo'o (dragons) that at one time ate travelers going to and from Hilo. Also starring the Maile Sister hula ki'i (hula puppets). Thrill to the spooky sounds of the theater's historic pipe organ, masterfully played by Mr. Bob Alder. Time: 10:30 am to 11:15 am at Hilo's Palace Theater. Cost: $5; Children 12 and under free.

Thanks Carey, that's a great list of options. I too was wondering because my little one is now finally old enough to go trick or treating. We were thinking of checking out the Sunrise Ridge area. Do you have any info on the Pumpkin Patch at the civic or know how to find a contact number. I checked all the papers and saw no listing for it, and can't find a number for the civic in the phone book. I don't if anyone mans a phone line there or not. Mahalo, Angela

Nalu, I got the info from the Calendar section of Sat. Paper, in the "Just for Keiki" heading (Unfortunately the calendar section is NOT on their online version), so I am editing this (Can't type well, & it's long...)
'Night in the Pumpkin Patch' at Afook Chinen Civic Center (this is on Manono, just north, makai, of Pi'ilani)
The Parks & Rec. Dept with the Hilo Jaycees & Key Clubs of Hilo and Waikea High, present 'Night in the Pumkin Patch' for preschoolers - 8th graders. Carnival games, haunted house, pumkin decorating, keiki ID's, costume contest with 'Most Original' and 'Spookiest' catagories. All costumes should be made at home & brought to the Butler Building no later that 5pm, contest starts at 6. Age div: 6 and under, 7-10, 11-13
