The term Obamacare is a Republican term which they have brainwashed the American public with. Just recently, some Republicans now say Hillary came up with the term. Just more evidence of the revisionist propaganda tactics of the Republicans.
Regardless, the fact is government subsidized insurance is not health care. Obama had to fight tooth and nail just to get subsidized open access insurance and it was at the cost of the government being put under sequestration for a decade by the Republican controlled Congress. There are two parties because there are two very different platforms. The Republican goal is total elimination of Medicare and Social Security. To find acceptance in recent years, that platform has changed to convert them to voucher systems. The reason for the sudden hospital staffing crisis is Medicare Part B has been successfully slashed by the Republican house and senate. Then, there is Big Pharma, lots of Republicans backing that.

Glad to see some here are starting to agree with me!
BTW, it's not really " Obamacare", this bill was sponsored by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid -- a Democrat bill.
Also Massachusetts has had this type of system quite a few years before "Obamacare"

The term "health insurance" a misnomer as well ....we pay the premiums not to stay healthy - we pay the premiums to protect our assets if we are unfortunate enough to need care
I have a good friend who brokers insurance - his quote "90% of ones lifetime health care spending - occurs in the last 30 days of life" .....
health insurance may be survivors insurance as well -

Cost of promoting Obamacare: 670 million.

The well-paid executives who complain about the cost of the extremely low quality, marginal quality care given to homeless and low income people, ignore the fact that "Indigents" are used as scapegoats as well as guinea pigs; the fact is the industry couldn't survive without them.

We are paying BILLIONS in tax money for Obama Care, now they want more? Sounds like wall street needs more cash to me. It's not providers that are getting this money but the health insurance companies themselves.

"The term Obamacare is a Republican term which they have brainwashed the American public with."
"Reaganomics" and "Voodoo economics" were democratic terms which they TRIED to brainwash the American public with, but Reaganomics wound up bringing us out of an epic recession into an economic boom that allowed us to outspend the USSR, eventually bankrupt them, and end the Cold War. It took a democratic president less than 7 years to bring us to the brink of another Cold War.
So yeah... Obamacare and Reaganomics.... we'll let history judge.
ETA: Grammar, content, "And just think.. if every hand that's taking money from all those premiums that has nothing to do with actually providing healthcare, i.e. the insurance companies, were to be eliminated, how much lower would everyone's healthcare costs be?"
Part of Obamacare (one of the parts I like) is that insurance companies have to spend a minimum of 80% of their revenue getting paid out in claims. The other parts I like is extending coverage to children up to the age of 26 and eliminating the ability to disqualify for pre-existing conditions. Those are really the only 3 things we need.

Damn! I wonder how much money Ige was paid to sign off on the hike? I think 'the state' should have voted no on this. What could of been a reason to vote YES? Money in back pockets? Of course! Ige is the worst! I think greedy politicians saw this coming and tried to hike everything up just under the wire. 'welcome to 'merica! I mean, Hawaii...

Bring it back to Hawaii.
Before Obamacare, HMSA quoted me $500/month for coverage.
Now, with Obamacare, HMSA is quoting me $500/month ... for less coverage.
