Pog - back in the late 70s,we would eat at Kandi's at 4:30am and take the grinds over the saddle to go work on the resorts,we would stop at that red Pu'u and jog to top of maunaloa and back down on the access road before coming back down to make it to work on time by 8am.
Saddle bck den was 1 and quarter lanes wide an full of pot holes,we did it one morning in 53 mins without stoppimng for morning jog.sometimes we would race other puna workers from kandi's to the then hyatt job site an see hoo got there 1st.
