Decisive inaction. Why do we pay them, exactly?

"Hilo Councilman Aaron Chung said the nine-member council has no role to play at this time, and that allowing both branches of county government to be absorbed in the debate does no good.

“Although people would like us to do it, I think it would be irresponsible,” he said of addressing the issue."

It's called accountability Councilman Chung, and it shows that the spineless majority of council members are not even willing to police themselves.

Our council is saying they don't work for the people that pay them, at least their not interested in protecting them. Cronies who are to afraid to do the right things to protect the people who elected them. Peleka justifies the wrongful spending saying it goes both ways, let the people and government decide that. Again contracts with rules, laws, and consequenses are signed before these in trust are given these P-cards. Our mayor was told in black and white, he was warned and reminded, he then continued his unhealthy habits on all of our $$$.

The hurricane left us with no power for weeks, flattened our fence with multiple large trees. We had no idea our mayor was giving out free pizza to those who were important enough on our dime.
When we had to go out and buy fans, air purifiers, and build a saferoom to help keep our keiki safe during the worst times brought on by the lava flow disaster. Others like our mayor were spending hard earned tax-payer money on liquor and who knows whatelse, in establishments known to wreck families and promote prostitution.
Thousands of keiki in Puna have had to sacrifice and make changes throughout these hard times, they deserve better examples from our elected leaders. JMO.

If the State AG's office is investigating at this time it would seem prudent for the county council to be patient and wait for the results of that investigation before acting. If those results show any activity on Kenoi's part that is illegal, unethical, or in conflict with agreements he signed with the county, then the county council will have a responsibility to act. Anything before then would be premature.

This is interesting. Margaret Wille's pCard was pulled on Mar. 20.
"According to County Clerk Stewart Maeda, Wille had her p-card revoked on March 20."

March 29, the Hawaii Tribune-Herald breaks the Kenoi pCard story. No excuse for what Uncle Billy was doing or even comparable in magnitude, but it looks like spiteful vindictiveness at play.

The council can't talk about it, anything they say could be used as evidence if anything comes to court. Government credit card abuse is widespread, and most of the time, those cases are often closed with a reprimand letter and ethics training.

By some amazing coincidence, Wille was also pushing an ethics bill:

The "revocation" was soft: We kind of mutually agreed to cancel her card", Maeda said Friday.

Wille was specifically questioned about charges of $13 and $21 -- both of which are described as things that might actually be related to County business: hotel and airfare, not a surfboard or hostess bar tab.
