Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Happy Thanksgiving to everybody. It looks like it's all behind me. I have occasional itchiness in the eye but otherwise things are back to normal.
We got a rescue dog with a milky eye from LFA and almost all of it has cleared up over the last year. We also had a chicken who got stung unmerciful when she disappeared to sit on eggs and after several months her eyes have cleared up. It looks like with some animals the effects are reversible over time so long as they get a break from the stinging.

Siesta.
The batch needs to be fresh.
The CPS guy says it has a shelf life of 3-4 months after opening.
That's why I don't want to buy the big 15 Lb size.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Our vat of Siesta has been opened much longer than that and is just as effective as the day we opened it. I think its important that after you take out the amount you are going to use, you close it right away. I have found that it only takes a VERY tiny amount to wipe them out, so its lasting a long time. Pahoa feed has the 1.5# in stock for $37. I got mine on eBay for $25 with free shipping. It's amazing how fast this stuff attracts the LFA. If I dump a tablespoon or so where there are many LFA, in just a few minutes the Siesta turns red with all the ant bodies on it sucking out the poison. I just wish there was a way to shoot it into the trees and have it stick.
Love those big box garden centers. Everything comes at a price.

Damn, what an awful experience. I just spent yesterday treating my whole yard with both Siesta and the Tango gel bait. The bastards managed to infiltrate almost the entire property without us noticing until they showed up in the house. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will knock them down...

So sorry you had such a scary and painful experience Terracore. Glad you're better now. One of my dogs has the milky eye, but terriers can't keep their noses out of any hole. My Vet says there's nothing he can do. Thankfully, we were able to get the KFA guys here about 6 months ago, and I haven't been bit once since they started the Tango treatment. Haven't really been in the yard much of late due to the Dengue worries tho, so can't say for sure that there are no fire ants out there.
