Rooster farms in HPP mapped. HEY Sputnut!
farm bill makes fighting animals a federal crime. Although raising them is still legal.

Right. You can raise fighting roosters, and sell them legally. If a shipper accepts them for transport no one is breaking the law as written. "For decorative, and educational use only."

ESPN and Nature Channel partner up to bring you NESPN, with 24-hour coverage of bull runs, cock fighting, lion hunting

Will Oceanic Time Warner carry that channel?

Both and neither: the powers that be will simply go along with whichever way makes the most money/power for the right people, just like they do with marijuana and other "low-level" forms of civil disobedience.

Consider the alternative: ESPN and Nature Channel partner up to bring you NESPN, with 24-hour coverage of bull runs, cock fighting, lion hunting (with rocks and sticks, no guns or bows allowed). Champion fighters would become "spokescock" for the new line of EXTREME Poultry Feed from Purina, in full color on the front of the sack, just like an old-fashioned box of Wheaties. Logos, hats, t-shirts, team colors...

I think you are getting a little carried away there kalakoa. Historically the Feds have "rescued" the big island from our local government that has trouble cleaning up it's back yard.

Fighting cocks in the USA is a no-go and it's just a matter of time....before the fighters and breeder are forced to evolve with the rest of society. Happens everyday, that's why we have laws and create new ones.

I suggest that we're overdue for another housecleaning.

See above: Hawaii is still somehow not-quite-USA (and in many places, not-quite-first-world).

I used to see this as a "problem", but the longer I live here, the more I can see how people want to preserve this "way of life".

Most domestic airlines have no prohibition on shipping roosters. When I was still working I would see them coming off of Hawaii flights all the time.
If it's legal to raise them then it's legal to ship them.

They do have a prohibition on wild exotic birds. They will accept documented birds that have been born or bred in captivity.

After Cecil the Lion they will no longer ship wild game trophies out of Africa.

They also ship crickets by the millions going to pet food stores and baby chicks that are shipped just after being born and before they have been fed anything so they don't crap all over the place.

Hawaiian Airlines, Aloha Air Cargo, and Kalitta (the airline that flies the cattle off the big island) won't touch them. I don't know the policies of United, Alaska, Delta, etc, those are "mainland" carriers.

The "other" local bird gambling sport, pigeon racing, the local carriers do ship them. I imagine a few of them might get lost over the ocean in the island-to-island races, but it seems a much more gentleman's sport than tying razor blades to rooster's spurs and gambling on them fighting to the death. The reason cock fighting is "tolerated" is because the gambling and drug sales that go on during the matches is organized crime. I'm sure it's probably not impossible for a lonely betting guy to hook up with some companionship for the night as well.

Look, east Hawaii is cheap. If you want to get away from AG, move to a condo near Alii drive. If you think it is animal cruelty, write to your Senator.

Proof that the zoning is a sham.

Very few crops earn enough to make a living on such a small "farm".

Fewer still are legal.

I suspect most airlines are shipping roosters if they have contracts with the USPS.

I'm not a big fan of roosters, but I understand that they are part of the rural lifestyle.

And they taste just like chicken!
