Chicken trapper needed!
#1
Any ideas???? My friend who lives in Mountain View needs a bunch of chickens trapped and removed. She is trying to sell her home and the chickens are pooping on her Lanai. ABSOLUTELY NO COCK FIGHTERS! She will pay for the services. Mahalo in advance.

I'm not sure that trapping and removing chickens is a "thing" but if they are offering to pay it quickly could be. We used to accept trapped chickens dumped onto our property but there is no way that we could ever eat our way through the chicken hoard that lives on or frequents our property.

Live traps aren't expensive and they can be borrowed (with deposit, based on availability) from the humane society. Since these are feral chickens they will probably be OK no matter where they are rehomed within a similar ecosystem, though any hens that were sitting on eggs or training a clutch of peepers how to live will result in the end of that generation. (Happy Easter).

If your friend finds someone to do this, I would be interested in hearing how much they charge for the service (if they charge).

Cock fighters like chickens that fight not poop.

I think your lanai pooping chickens are safe.

Safety not issue trying to sell the house.

Del's sells a very well made live chicken trap .Not the long type trap for cats and mongoose but more of a wire box with trip loaded door .

A bag of chicken scratch from Del's is about 17$ for 50 lbs OR a loaf of raisin bread cut into small bits in a plastic bowl also works well, and by getting the birds used to eating in the cage without the trap door going off, they get used to eating in the trap cage and in a few days set the door to trap them, and CAH CHING ,problem solved.
Place cage trap on a piece of card board for easy clean up of consolidated chicken doo doo .

It is about 100 $ and works great .

You friend can do it his or herself without bringing in strangers to the property .

After the chickens are caught - take the live trap to the zoo and any chicken scratch you might have left and donate to the zoo.
Chickens eat scraps as well and even dry cat food .

Be creative and soon no more chickens .
