Mauna Kea's summit region is remote with no facilities and emergency responders two hours away. Rescuing idiots is going to have to fall to observatory staff and the odd ranger - if they are there and if they know something bad has happened.

This has gone quiet for a bit because the servers are always crashing from too much load. Also, there have been a few hack attacks to take down servers, apparently a big crash is planned for Aug. 1. There are some sites being identified on Hawaii island. These are fan based since the whole point of the game is explore to find locations. So far, just Hilo but it's hard to tell how popular this map is, there are many more locations on Maui. Games like this always bring down the servers in the beginning.

There are multiple ripple effects happening. It takes an iPhone or Android with GPS and good graphics capabilities. That is causing a huge uptick in smart phone sales. The game sucks up battery capacity fast, so portable USB charger sales are taking off. Some businesses that have Poke Stops are reporting big increases in traffic and sales. This is a Poke Stop in Bellevue, Washington.
