Cleaning Lady
#1
I got someone to clean my unfurnished and never lived-in house in LE and she said I can pay her whatever I think is fair. The job is to wipe off the kitchen cabinets with bleach solution and water and Liquid Gold; wipe off the closet doors; clean the floor (laminated wood) and clean the windows. I really have no idea what people charge on the East side. Can you guys give me some recommendation?

Thank you mei but it's not a construction clean-up and I already got somebody, I just didn't know how much to pay her since she said it was up to me. My cleaning lady charges $20/hour here in Kona, so I assume it would be less on the East side.

I used to have one that would do it for me for $15/hour with a 4 hour minimum (plus GE). I may have been getting a discount since I also used her for a number of pre-closing cleanups, so she got a good amount of business from me, and I provided all the cleaning materials. To me, $20 an hour sounds reasonable for a one-time clean-up. If it were an on-going thing, then I might ask for a "volume discount".

Edited to add: this was a couple of years ago, I would not be surprised if prices were higher, what with the higher gas prices and all. I think $20 an hour is reasonable if all you have to provide is access to the property and she does the rest (including all materials).

Glad you found someone to do your work. I thing that whether we are on the East or West side, Cleaning jobs should be within the same range of pay. We have the same expenses, do the same work, (if not more due to the mildew and moisture damage) on the East side that as the West. And you get what you pay for
