Sears Repairman says that store will close, but repair department will not. Therefore, my recommendation is get a going out of business Sears mower with an extended warranty. Craftsman is rated OK by Consumer Reports, I think above Cub Cadet. BTW, the warning about Home Depot mowers also applies to Cadet.

Heard rumor a few years back that Husqvarna America was building the larger Sears riding mower for them. The biggest problem I have had is a large rock will shatter the blade mandrel (bearing and shaft enclosure), is made from aluminum with lots of material saving holes.
Bought a half dozen extras thru SearsPartsDirect and problem solved, with the addition of mowing at a higher setting first go around, walking and removing or marking obstacles, then make a final mow.

Don't count on that if they declare bankruptcy.

I have a friend that owns a maintenance company. He says the John Deere 110 ( cheapest model) has had fewer problems than the top of the line models which have had big problems around the 300 hour mark.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

HD is a great place to buy a lot of things, but if you need something that is going to need maintenance and repairs, be sure to buy from the island's authorized dealer. Your HD product is going to sit awhile in the back of the authorized dealer's repair shop as he takes care of the machines he sold first.
And if you are going to buy a riding mower it is definitely going to need repairs.
There should be a sign on the highway as one leaves Hilo heading south, "Welcome to Puna, where rust never sleeps".

Well I made my choice. First I again want to thank everyone for your input.
So I went to Home Depot and was shocked when I asked the sales guy about the John Deere D105 and he told me, they are crap and not really made by John Deere. He actually said they are made in China. Not sure if this is true, but that is what he told me.
The poulan did not look like it was a quality mower and he told me the polulans have the highest return rate.
Well I ended up with the Cub Cadet XT1 Enduro since that was my only choice at Home Depot.

Hope it treats you well. Curious why you went with a Depot model after being warned that their mowers, including Cadet, are a lesser quality than found elsewhere. Special deal?
I bought a Cadet there, before hearing about this. It was an OK machine, except for one major problem: The mower deck rusted out fairly quickly. Do not use hose attachment to "clean" deck, as this at best is a complete waste of time-does not remove grass- and at worst will accelerate rusting underneath by keeping grass nice and wet. Do paint underside of mower deck with a tough, protective paint.
