I have searched high and low and can't find a website that gives info on how to get to the current lava flow viewing area. We're in HPP so not very far from Kalapana. Maybe we're too late?

The current ocean entry area is at the end of HWY 130 + ~2miles...
It was open this afternoon - there is a road sign on 130 as you leave Pahoa...
bring water, flashlight and good shoes. there may be a wlk involved (sometimes over a mile, some on dusty gravel road some on the older lava flow near Royal Gardens....)
There are county & park personel to assist visitors
The entry is still open from 2pm - 10pm with the last one in by 8pm...
we have found the best time is 5-5:30 pm, that way you can walk in with light & out just after dusk & see the glow/flow down the slope & through RG...
The Jaegger Museum was open daily from 9am -8pm (extended hours) up until Monday.... It has been closed for the last 2 days.... don't know what the hours will be.... but it also had a great glow view into the new blowout on Sunday night....

Mahalo Carey! We moved from Volcano just in time. Don't really want to go back up there, but I really appreciate the info on the lava flow.
I saw the lava cross the road about 16 years ago. I've never seen it pouring into the ocean though. And my son has never seen any of it.
A mile hike? What happened to the bleachers? LOL I'm sure they were kidding about that part on the other volcano thread. Good idea about going just before dusk. Thanks again!
