AT&T laptop card service?
#1
I am curious if anybody is using AT&T wireless Internet service here. I know they upgraded their network to 3G this year so I'm wondering how fast it really is. I know how fast it is capable of being but that is never the case in real world conditions. If somebody has done speed tests for both upload and download and would like to share that would be great. I have been using a Sprint card for about a year now and have been overall pretty happy with it. My downloads average about 800 Kbps and uploads 200 kbps. Not bad at all for wireless but if I can get better then hey why not?
Until I can figure out a scam to get Oceanic or Hawaiian Tel to bring Internet into Royal Hawaiian Estates this will have to do. If anybody has any tips on how to get such a ball rolling please post it. My understanding is that it's no easy task.

I have it and have used it in various places on the island. It did not work for me anywhere in Puna except in "downtown" Pahoa. If you have an ATT Cell phone, you can test the signal, if not maybe one of your neighbors has one. It works all over Hilo and in downtown Honokaa and downtown Wiamea. When there is a full signal it is pretty fast. If you only get 2-3 bars it is slow.
