Moving a chemtainer 3000 gallon tank
#1
Any tips for moving one of these monsters a couple miles?

Thinking I can rent a flatbed with some ramps, maybe winch or drag it up on some scrap carpet? Or find someone that can move them affordably?

not sure of the weight. but renting a truck with a lift gate would be another solution. we moved a 3800 fiberglass tank once and it rolled pretty easy. aren't the chemtainers taller rather than larger diameter? anyway harpers has lift gate trucks that we have used for big heavy things...

I moved a 4000 gallon with a Home Depot rental truck, I wouldn't recommend it because on its side we were inches below the cable lines.. use your own judgement , there is a real risk of crushing yourself or damaging the tank... Once it was on and off it's pretty simple, they are easy to drag around with a car and a strap tied around the bottom. Take your time and plan it out, make a backup plan, and have lots of hands that are smart and strong available.

Towing companies can move a 20' shipping container on one of their flatbeds normally used for cars/trucks etc. You might want to try calling around. Since most of their fees seem to be "by the mile" if you're only going a few miles it might be the cheapest solution. You could also call whoever sells the tanks and ask their recommendation. We moved a 20' shipping container uphill on rough terrain using a 1995 Jeep Wrangler, a bottle jack, concrete foundation blocks, and steel pipes. We only moved it about 35 feet and it took most of a day. Anything is possible but if you can get somebody to back a tow truck up to it and move it a few miles in 30 minutes it's probably worth the couple hundred bucks.

I sold a couple few years ago. Strapped them to a trailer. One guy drove all the way to the west side with his. Two men can roll them around pretty easy, just be careful as rocks can puncture them.
