Jordan grew up in lower Puna and went to Pahoa school. Apparently he was in a fight back in 2015 with another surfer. Here is an article explaining more.

Wow, that is nuts. No matter how you look at this, he is in a pickle. That is not a place to be in jail. I hope he makes it out ok.

A company I worked for about 15 years ago had an office on Bali, Indonesia with about a dozen non-Indonesian workers. Competing locally owned businesses would get guys arrested on trumped up charges, and our standard response was to bribe the cops to drop the matter. Sometimes the judges would demand a cut of the loot or a separate payment of their own. We always kept a couple of thousand U.S. dollars in crisp new $100 notes on hand for such occasions. Worked every time.
